ABOUT US

With pleasure, I present you our Lamps collection.

This collection is born with the idea of great freedom. The concept is to combine products with different cultures, an eclectic collection that wants to combine, avant-garde, ready-made, modern movement, and decontextualization.

We would like to be free from the dogma of design evolution. This collection has different sources of reference, does not have a continuous and unique line. The main inspiration is our city Milan, which was revised during the years of its reconstruction. We are talking about the 50s and 60s. In those years Milan was the place for the reinterpretation of the Modern Movement, but still with characters inherited from the “simplified monumental” style of Piacentini and from the Metaphysics of De Chirico.

In the 50s' middle-class aspirations were fused with traditional "precious" materials or new technologies. The architectural compositions were characterized by the combination of marbles, gold profiles, new glass mosaics, rational and primary forms such as the cone and prisms. In industrial design and interiors, metal turned parts were added, industrial production mechanized with bourgeois elements.

In the interiors in Milan appeared the first experimentations of "Color Blocking" with the dissonant flanking of colors. The place where these projects are still present are the entryways of the building of Milan (Entryways of Milan Taschen) in the areas of the reconstruction and expansion of the city

Revisiting this "modernist" character today is an idea of freedom, going beyond modernity and without necessarily proposing something new, but using as "upcycling" not only objects but cultures.

The goal is to be representative of the contemporary, trying to overcome the classical scheme of the evolution of design. Modernity has not stopped, but questions the sense of producing only / always new design. From this new ways are born such as upcycling, eclecticism, reinterpretation in a different order of reality. This is why one of our great inspirers is Bertrand Lavier, the French artist who dismantles and reconstructs reality in a different sequence. Or all the avant-gardes that have operated the "artistic decontextualization", freeing the objects from their traditional meaning.

The mirror of this new creative “transversality” is also WGSN, to which the merit of the globalization of aesthetic sensibility goes. The "trend forecast" and the globalization of our customers are a fundamental component of inspiration. WGSN has also contributed to breaking the logical thread of the design narrative and has reviewed the times. Contemporary minimalist, post-modern, vintage, artistic decontextualization now can live on the same level.
